CHICAGO (AP) -- A south suburban woman is the ten millionth rider on Chicago's Navy Pier Ferris wheel.
Debbie Curulewski of New Lenox won several prizes for the distinction. That includes two plane tickets to London and a one-year pass to the Ferris wheel.
The 50-year-old woman is a registered nurse. She says she gasped when she found out she was the ten millionth rider.
Navy Pier officials had calculated the approximate time the ten millionth rider would get on the wheel based on rider average statistics. There are about 63,500 average rides on the wheel each month.
The Ferris wheel opened for rides on July 1st, 1995. The wheel is 15 stories high and takes seven and a half minutes to finish one rotation.
