ROCKFORD - (WIFR) Check out these activities happening all weekend long around the Stateline area.


July 3 - Saturday
5:00 p.m. - Flag Retirement Ceremony sponsored by Wanchanagi District Boy Scouts of America. Next to Symbol in Sinnissippi Gardens.

7:07 p.m. - Instant Jungle Independence Eve Party at the Rockford Speedway. LM Star Spangled 76, SP Hornets plus flagpole Race and Illini Midgets.*

July 4 - Sunday
7:00 a.m. - MELD Classic 8k Run (7:00 a.m.), 2 Mile Run (7:05 a.m.), 1 Mile Fun Walk (8:30 a.m.). Begins on Madison St. under Jefferson St. Bridge near the Trolley Station.*

8:30 a.m. - Patriotic Breakfast sponsored by the Rockford 4th of July Committee & Stone Eagle Tavern. A salute to area veterans & their families. Free continental breakfast to the first 1,000 people. Key note speaker Dr. Michael Marino. Music Shell in Sinnissippi Park.

Noon - Declarations to end violence and prejudice. State & Main, Rockford, IL.

5:00 p.m. - SkyConcert gates open inside Davis Park, downtown Rockford, IL. Our Indepedence Day Bash will headline the Moonlight Jazz Orchestra along with Jodi Beach singing our National Anthem. Come join the fun with entertainment & the best view to see the incredible fireworks show!! Food and Beverage will be available. Band Sponsored by Blackhawk Bank.*

6:50 p.m. - Motorcycle Parade

7:00 p.m. - Rockford 4th of July Parade. Begins at 7th Street & 6th Ave. in downtown, Rockford, IL. Ends near Davis Park.

9:30 p.m. - Fireworks Show Begins!! One of the largest Fireworks Show in the State of Illinois synchronized to music over Davis Park in Downtown Rockford.*

Activities at Byron Dragway start at 7 p.m. Fireworks at dusk. Free admission, donations accepted. Details at 23Hometowns.

Parade at 1 p.m. Starts at Village Hall.

Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.

Parade at 11:00 a.m.

Ski Broncs water ski show at 7:00 p.m. Shorewood Park.

Let Fredom Ring Festival continues through Sunday night. Fireworks at dusk, at Rahn Jr. High. Details at 23Hometowns.

    Was I the only one that thought Rockford's parade was horrible? No clowns, candy, horses, entertainment, bands, floats or anything. If that is the norm then I will not be participating with that again.
