Facebook For Spies

CHICAGO (AP) -- It's like a super Facebook for spies.

Taking a page from popular social networking sites, America's spy community is hoping spooks will log on to a new and ambitious internal project to share important information. It's designed to bolster the country's intelligence gathering efforts.

The classified "A-Space" is the topic if a two-day conference in Chicago that begins today.

A-Space is set to launch in December and will ultimately grow to include blogs, searchable databases, report libraries, collaborative word processing and social networking. The goal is to let analysts at 16 intelligence agencies swap, update and edit information quickly.

It comes on the heels of the year-old Intellipedia, an internal Web site launched last year that's modeled after the popular online encyclopedia Wikipedia.
