ARUTHUR, Ill. (AP) -- There's a new cheese eating champion in town.
Twenty-six-year-old Curtis Gregg devoured a one-pound block of Colby cheese in three minutes and ten seconds to win the cheese eating championship this weekend at the Arthur Cheese Festival.
The Decatur landscape designer says he entered pizza-eating contests in college and decided to give cheese eating a try.
University of Illinois student Allen Tran held the title for the past two years. Tran wasn't at this year's festival to defend his title.
The festival runs through today (Monday) in downtown Arthur. Organizers kicked off yesterday's event by cutting a 328-pound cheese block into three-thousand slices.
The pieces were distributed to festival goers with crackers.
