NEW YORK (AP) -- Barack Obama says his wife wasn't taking a swipe at Hillary Clinton when she recently said -- quote -- "If you can't run your own house, you can't run the White House."
The presidential candidate spoke about the matter to The Associated Press as he left a campaign rally in New York yesterday (Wednesday).
His wife, Michelle, made her statement during a speech last week in which she talked about how she and her husband balanced the demands of raising children with campaigning.
Some political commentators interpreted her words as a veiled attack on Obama's chief rival for the Democratic nomination.
The Illinois senator says his wife has been making the same speech constantly about the decision the Obamas made to make sure that their family remained strong during the campaign.
