Reserve soldiers in Illinois are covered under the Human Rights Law to help stop discrimination.
Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich signed the Citizen Soldier Initiative. Under the new state law soldiers will be protected from discrimination by employers, landlords and lenders under a new state law.
The governor's office says some Illinois reservists have complained that employers have denied them jobs because of fears that they'll be called up to active duty.
Active duty service members already were protected.
