Around 10:30 a.m. at Capital Aquisitions and Management Company, also known as CAMCO, located at 303 N. Main St., an employee in the Administration Department detected a white substance in an envelope.
CAMCO Compliance Officer Jeff Garrington says the envelope had no return address on it. Following CAMCO procedures, personnel placed the envelope in a plastic bag and called the Rockford Police Department.
The Fire Department also responded. The Fire Department says they tested the powder twice for anthrax. The powder tested negative both times.
There were 15 to 20 employees working at this time. They all evacuated the building.
