SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois' Democratic State Central Committee has endorsed U.S. Senator Barack Obama for president.
Senate President Emil Jones is executive vice chair of the state party, and he predicts that Obama will be the first president that many Illinoisans know personally.
Obama got the endorsement yesterday in a voice vote in Springfield, but not all Democrats are on board.
State party secretary Shirley McCombs was among those who voted against the resolution.
McCombs says she admires Obama, but she's backing U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton, who's an Illinois native.
