Edwards, who earlier Monday met with AFLCIO executives at a meeting at a downtown hotel, spent about 15 minutes at Manny's Coffee Shop and Deli with U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Barack Obama.

As Edwards made his way around the room, several diners enthusiastically voiced their support.

Paul Webber, a 37-year-old Chicago plumber, told Edwards that many people he knows are losing their jobs and the situation is bleak for the working class.

Edwards told another diner that the country needs a president with a plan to keep jobs in the United States and who will stop giving tax breaks to companies that outsource jobs.
