City OK’s Friday’s Game at Wrigley Field

The Cubs Friday morning got the go-ahead from inspectors to continue playing at Wrigley. The city had threatened to close the 90-year-old ballpark because of fears raised by three recent reports of falling concrete.

Chicago Buildings Commissioner Stan Kaderbek Friday said the protective netting the Cubs have put up is enough to keep fans safe and Friday afternoon's game against Philadelphia can go on as scheduled.

McPhail says there's still some work that needs to done. But he says Wrigley is structurally sound and fans are safe.

McPhail says the protective netting will remain up for the rest of the season.
