Senators Brad Burzynski of Clare and Dale Righter of Mattoon led eleven GOP senators in deriding Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Senate President Emil Jones, both Democrats, for failing to get a budget passed.
Blagojevich and Jones have struggled with legislative Republicans and Democratic House Speaker Michael Madigan in closing a deficit in a $54 billion spending plan. The disagreement has led to a 60-day overtime session that threatens to disrupt Democrats' plans to attend next week's Democratic National Convention in Boston.
The longest a session previously had gone into overtime was July 19th in 1991.
