One month after someone fatally shot a Byron man in his home, local police are still searching for a suspect.
Emory Weems died Feb. 15 from gunshot wounds he received when someone shot him in his home days before. Police say they're not about to give up, and continue pushing new leads. Police chief Todd Murray said he remains optimistic that a suspect will be found, even as the trail grows cold.
"We're getting closer every day," Murray said.
According to early police reports, witnesses saw a man run from the house. He's described as a white man in his thirties, about six feet tall, with brown hair. He was wearing a dark jacket and baseball cap, and may have left in a 4-door tan, medium-sized car. You can see a police sketch at the top of this story.
Anyone with information should call the Byron Police Department, at 815-234-5000.
