On March 4, 2010, the Rock County Coroner, Jenifer Keach, officially ruled the cause of death for Alexander Aiken as drug toxicity.
Aiken was found unconscious in his bedroom on February 9, 2010, by his mother when she attempted to wake him up for school. Aiken was transported to the Edgerton Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. It was suspected at that time that Aiken might have overdosed on Oxycodone and OxyContin. The Rock County Coroner’s Office sent Aiken’s blood to a lab for toxicology tests. The result of those tests showed he did die as a result of an Oxycodone overdose.

The 14 year old has been referred on a charge of 1st degree reckless homicide and is not an adult for legal purposes until the 14 year old is charged by the District Attorney with an adult complaint for that charge. Under Wisconsin Statutes, 938.183, the charge of 1st degree reckless homicide is an original adult court jurisdiction offense and can only be filed on the adult side with a criminal complaint. The adult court jurisdiction does not attach until an adult complaint is filed by the District Attorney’s Office. That will not happen tomorrow as the District Attorney does not have the referral and police reports and will not have the complete reports until tomorrow at the earliest. Procedurally, the 14 year old appears as a juvenile tomorrow and the District Attorney will ask that the 14 year old be held in custody until Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at which time the District Attorney will have to file either an adult criminal complaint or a juvenile petition.
Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
Rock County Sheriff’s Office Detectives continued to investigate this case while the blood test was being conducted. A suspect was developed and the source of the Oxycodone medication was believed to be a relative of the suspect. The relative did not realize that any medication was missing.

Oxycodone is necessary for SOME adults. But those who use this drug as a recreational drug, are NO different than HEROIN users. If you have any problem with this concept, than you have no value to others on this planet. Get educated, or die, whichever is your preference.
I find it absurd to arrest this 14 y/o teenager on reckless homicide. While I do believe there should be a punishment I feel that this punishment is not fair. I realize that a young boy lost his life in the process, but were the drugs forced down his throat??? When does the victim take accountability for his actions? The major thing that we should be focusing on is that children are using prescription drugs. It is our responsibility to educate and watch the youth in our community. Making an example of a 14 teen year old will not prove or do justice for anyone. She is a 14 teen year old and her issues should have been addressed long before, feeling the need to take prescription drugs and giving them to her friends. My last question is, yesterday a man by the name of Joseph A. Theisen, of Madison, faces 25 counts of fraudulently obtaining prescription drugs. He faces up to four years that’s right 4 years in federal prison on each count. According to federal prosecutors in Madison, Peace
regarding the comments putting the blame on prescibing these drugs, think outside the box im very sure that a doctor did not prescribe these drugs for a kid they had to get them from somewhere else a parent or maybe a drug dealer who knows,i am forty and have very cronic knee pain in both knees and to tell you the truth it is actually very hard to get these meds prescribed even to an adult, its not the doctors or the drug companys that make them, its the parents that dont watch there kids and what they are doing in life, everybody wants too blame, there are people that actually need these drugs,i think we should keep the fda out of our lives and stop trying to make this a comunist country, and maybe put the parents through parenting classes and to maybe lock up there medications so kids cant obtain them, this actually has nothing to do with a doctor or a drug company, keep trying to make this a communist country and see how many people die!!!
