Former Rockford Priest Alleged Involved in Four Cases of Sexual Misconduct

The four say they were victims of sexual misconduct by William Joffe, who served the Diocese in the Dixon and Sterling area. Joffe has denied all of the charges.

Joffe's priestly duties were revoked by the Diocese in 1993. That is when one man alleged that Joffe had engaged in sexual misconduct with him 28 years earlier in 1965.

Joffe was an associate at the St. Patrick Parish in Dixon at that time. In November 1965, Joffe's duties were revoked.

In 2002, a second claim was made dating back to 1973 when Joffe was the pastor of a parish in Morrison and on the faculty at Sterling Newman Central Catholic High School.

Then this past March, two more allegations surfaced. Both men claim Joffe molested them while at the St. Mary's Parish in Woodstock. One instance is alleged to have taken place in 1979 and the second in 1983.

This is not Joffe's first brush with the law. In 1991 he was indicted by a federal grand jury in Milwaukee with four counts of bank fraud and three counts of interstate transportation of stolen securities. He was sentenced to a year in prison.
