Lightning Damage

Due to the severe weather, lightning has caused several fires in the area.

A transformer was hit by lightning and caught on fire in Rockford at Shaw and East State Street near the Clocktower. This fire likely caused many power outages in the area.

A business in Machesney Park was likely a victim of lightning as well. Police arrived on the scene of a car repair shop where the sign on the front of the building was on fire. There was no major damage to the building itself.

A home in the gated community of Candlewick Lake in Poplar Grove was also struck by lightning tonight. Crews quickly extinguished any flames ignited by the lightning.

Whatever you do, do not call LDR disaster services, for they are very poor. One of their employees took an ipod from my sons room when they came to pack my belongings to take with them. I also had several other items missing as well. BE VERY CAREFUL who your insurance uses.
