Congressman Don Manzullo was in tonight's audience at President Obama's State of the Union speech. He says Mr. Obama needs to do more to address the national deficit, wasteful spending and admit that most of the jobs created with stimulus money, have been in the government sector.

Manzullo says he does admire how the president is tackling the war in Afghanistan. But when it comes to health care reform, he says there needs to be compromise.

"He's trying to grab control of a system but you can't change everything overnight, and that's what he's trying to do because he thinks government is the answer to everything," says Manzullo.

While Manzullo watched the speech live in Washington, his opponent in the upcoming November election, Freeport Mayor George Gaulrapp, sat down with us, to offer his perspective of the State of the Union address.

Gaulrapp says President Obama has wasted too much time on health care reform, but feels he's on the right track now, to what the main focus should be, creating jobs in a bi-partisan effort.

"He tried to calm the fears of the nation with our double-digit unemployment and I think he did a very good job of that and trying to draw in both sides. People want to get back to work and that's our main focus. People are scared to death they're going to lose their homes and their families and they rely upon our government, a smart government, working together, to bring those jobs back," says Gaulrapp.
