Supreme Court Decision On Affirmative Action

A major decision in Washington today by the Supreme Court. It centers around the touchy issue of race in schools. Parents from two states challenged plans to assign students to schools based on race to maintain diversity and today the Supreme Court agreed with them.

In a 5 to 4 vote, the court rejected affirmative action plans in two states. Here at home, Lisa Jackson who leads an equal education group in Rockford feels the decision could be a major setback, across the nation and in Rockford.

Jackson's group is holding a forum next month to address this issue as well as other issues in the Rockford School District.
