Spokesman Rob Kenny says the F-C-C has received reports of problems in Illinois and in the St. Louis area.
Some stations say the Emergency Alert System's tone sporadically interrupted programming this morning, going on for three to four minutes at a time.
Others say their signals were scrambled and that other stations were being broadcast on their frequencies.
State officials say they believe the problem is happening at the federal level.
Kenny says he expects to have more information later today.
