UNDATED (AP) -- Two suspects are in custody and a third is being sought in a statewide A-T-M theft ring.
Waukesha County sheriff's deputies arrested a 23-year-old Wausau man and a 25-year-old Mukwonago man Monday after the two broke into a convenience store and tried stealing an A-T-M.
A deputy who was observing the store on a surveillance operation gave chase and caught the pair. The other third suspect escaped.
The suspects' names have been withheld pending formal charges.
Police say the trio smashes into the front door of a convenience store, puts a chain on the machine and hauls it out. Surveillance video shows it can take as little as a minute.
Portage County sheriff's detective Gary Koehmstadt (CHEM'-stat) says the three are suspected in least eight burglaries since April 30th in Marathon, Marquette, Portage and Waukesha counties.
