A computer malfunction at United Airlines halted all departures system wide for two hours today.
Only departures were affected but it is crippling arrivals as well because planes could not get to gates because departing flights were still there. It's unclear whether this outage will affected the scheduled 1-09 arrival time of a United flight from Denver but it probably will.
United spokeswoman Robin Urbanski says the outage lasted from eight a-m to ten a-m. That's when departures were able to resume. The cause of the outage wasn't immediately clear.
23 news has a crew at the Chicago Rockford International airport awaiting the Denver flight, there will be more tonight on 23 News.
So, how could a computer malfunction ground a major air carrier?
