Rockford Drivers Rate The Safest

A pat on the back for Rockford drivers today, we've been rated among the safest in America.

The 2007 Allstate Americas best driving report voted Rockford as the number one city with the safest drivers in Illinois.

Overall we rank 44Th on the nationwide list, that's about the same spot we held last year. We're now 7.1% less likely to be involved in a car accident compared to the national average.

I don't know where they came up with that statistic. All anyone has to do is drive our roads to know that is a complete lie. Everyone I talk to knows that driving our area today is dangerous and you take your life into your own hands. People old enough to know better tailgate within feet of you going 60 plus mph going down 251 and Perryville. Where are the police anyway?

This is strange. Just a very few years ago, a Chicago Tribune article said Rockford was tied with one other large city for the distinction of having the worst drivers in Illinois. It said Rockford drivers were worse than Chicago. I hope Rockford is becoming safer. It makes me wonder about all the drivers who go through red lights attached to the bumper of the car ahead of them. Everyone knows that at least 3 cars go through red lights on the East Side super-streets. That's one reason there are so many accidents. A vehicle is turning left on the yellow or red, and the oncoming traffic doesn't stop.
