Dot Joins The Team

Rockford's goose management teams got a new member today and 23 news was there to follow Dot around on her first day of work.

The Rockford Park District Goose Management Teams duty is to move geese out of parks and off golf courses.

They've been running the program for about 7 years now, trying to stabilize the population. Right now the resident bird count is about 300.

Most of our birds have become familiar with the park districts vehicles. Most of the time they don't get a chance to go out with the dogs and let them after the birds because they're used to the program and say OK, here they come and off they'll go.
