Police in Madison, Wisconsin believe a man already behind bars is a serial rapist responsible for at least two dozen attacks including one in a Roscoe parking lot.
Investigators say the suspect is linked by DNA evidence to sexual assaults in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. His identity, which hasn't been released, was given to Madison police by the FBI.
A Madison police official says the suspect is being held on unrelated charges. Police began notifying the public about a possible serial rapist in the winter of 2000.
The attack in Roscoe occurred in April of 2000. Profilers and forensic artists put out a composite sketch of a white man with dark blond hair between 25 and 35 years old.
The attacker preyed on mall workers who were alone in stores or in parking lots.
