Boone Counts Takes The State To Court

West Nile has been discovered in Boone County, the only problem, the state health department won't tell local leaders where apparently a horse in Boone County was infected with the mosquito borne illness and died.

But the Illinois Department of Agriculture refuses to release the exact location. Now Boone county is taking the state to court saying this is a public health issue and residents in the county have a right to know.

Right now, the trial is scheduled for July 13Th. July is one of the busiest months for the west Nile virus.

I am so glad you have reported this matter. I called the City Hall only to call the Health Dept over Memorial Weekend , & I did, & they only told me to throw the two birds out in the garbage. Due to the HOLIDAY weekend. Then I had spoken to to different neighbors (SORRY) but whom spoken ENGLISH & they said they had three dead birds in their yard. I didn't ask if they had called the cityhall. I feel the City of Murials could care less as long as , they don't effect the MAYOR & the OFFICIAls. With Mosquitos and Multiple families in SINGLE Family Homes. Total different subject , I guess............... I could gone for a LONG , LONG time regarding that matter.................

I agree this is a public health concern. You told us when human cases were found and where, but your not going to release that information for a horse! I love animals and believe in animal rights, but come on! I love my children and family more! We deserve to know!
