ROCKFORD, Ill. (Dec. 3, 2009) – ComEd External Affairs Manager Paul Callighan has been selected winner of the ComEd Excellence in Customer Service Award for exemplary work involving several public affairs issues in the Rockford area.
The award is the highest honor ComEd can bestow on an employee and is presented to employees who demonstrate an exemplary sense of duty on behalf of the company’s customers and mission.
In making the award, ComEd President and Chief Operating Officer Anne Pramaggiore cited Callighan’s contributions to a series of outstanding municipal and customer outreach efforts. These included:
- Assisting operations and emergency response personnel in the successful 2008 evacuation of residents along the Rock River who were flooded out of their homes. ComEd’s effort received the praise of state and local officials.
- Engaging local political leaders and media outlets in the successful siting of a major new substation that opened in summer 2008 in Loves Park.
- Working directly with Sycamore officials and residents in 2008 and 2009 to obtain all necessary approvals for modifications to ComEd’s Sycamore Substation.
“Paul serves as our primary spokesperson in the Rockford area, but his involvement in these communities goes far deeper,” Pramaggiore said of the 25-year ComEd veteran. “I have heard from many customers and public officials who say Paul is the primary reason they believe ComEd is a company that truly cares about its customers.”
Pramaggiore added, “In every ComEd department, there are individuals who rise above the call of duty to serve our customers. Paul is one of these people, and I am proud to recognize him for his impressive focus on our customers.”
