Rockford Casino
Talk of a casino has come and gone over the years in Rockford. Now it's back and picking up some steam at city hall. But, the odds aren't in the city's favor right now with pending deadlines in Springfield.

I don't like the idea of a casino in Rockford based on moral principles and knowing the impact it will have socially on the city. Any increase in revenue could easily be off-set by the increase in money needed for treatment for compulsive gambling and other criminal issues that go along with this type of gambling. If it does come to Rockford, don't put it in the downtown district. We are trying to improve conditions here and this would be detrimental. Put it out by I 90 or past the airport on the river. Writing as a member of a downtown neighborhood association, I will fight tooth and nail any proposal to place a casino downtown!

I believe that a casino could really good for Rockford. These compulsive gamblers in this town will save a lot of gas not having to drive out of town. Yes, gambling does affect a lot of lives but we make our own choices and I welcome the idea.
