Route 178 currently runs right through Utica and residents are considering the idea of re-routing the road as they continue to rebuild from the tornadoes the struck the town last month.
Eight people died in the April 20 storm.
Wednesday night, residents met for three hours to discuss the issue. Some want to divert the road to the east of downtown, but others say that will hurt businesses that depend on the traffic it brings.
The city council is expected to vote on the issue at its next meeting on June 9.
