Fighting For Health Care

More than 1 million people in Illinois ages 18 to 64 do not have health care coverage and right now the American Association For Retired Persons or AARP is fighting for a change.

Rockford members hit the streets today with the message, real people with real health care problems need a real solution.

They stopped at Senator Dave Syverson and Representative Chuck Jefferson's office dropping off a basket of apples saying it takes more then an apple a day to keep the doctor away and create a healthy Illinois.

AARP members are urging legislators to pass the Illinois Covered Plan which would cover people of all age groups.

If illegal immigrants can get free insurance and health care from our government, then all Americans should get help first. I also think that the benefits for anyone that we the tax payers support should be for a limited time. I have heard too many stories about parent's who work are giving up their jobs, because they better benefits from the government being on welfare and be insured. They don't have to use up their whole pay checks for gas, insurance and daycare. Why work? If they work or not and have children, then they don't have to pay for health insurance, because our government will give them insurance. Thank you government!! What really bugs me about the free government hand outs is it's free, forever, and not monitored closely. (Example) parents who live together, work, (are paid cash under the table), most lie to welfare to get and keep free benefits for years and years. So limit our handouts. Give those hand outs to American's first. This is suppose to be our country.
