The Greater Rockford Airport hosted guests from around the country.
Nine passenger jets from United Airlines docked at the Rockford terminals this after being diverted from O’Hare International Airport. Passengers were allowed off the planes during the delays.
The FAA says rubber debris on the runways caused the diversion. Rockford Airport officials say having planes in the airport isn’t unusual, but it isn’t typical to have nine United jets either.
The passengers got a chance to check out the Rockford Airport facilities, which could be hosting regular passenger planes in the future.
