Snow Blankets South Central Wisconsin

A golfer in shorts sharing the practice green with a snowman: those who've lived in Wisconsin a long time have learned not to put away the snow shovels too soon. Anything can happen in spring.

People in some parts of south central Wisconsin awoke to a blanket of snow Sunday, a rare event for May, but not unheard of. Madison got three inches of snow on May 10 of 1990.

It didn't take long for the snow cover to disappear, but late Sunday morning the temperature had climbed into the 50s and the one-inch snow cover was gone.
