Rockford Buys Church School Building
What some considered an eyesore in Rockford now belongs to the city.

The city of Rockford was the only bidder for the condemned Church School building on Blaisdell Street. The city purchased the facility for 16-thousand five-hundred dollars. The previous owner Reverand Earl Dotson was trying to pay off thousands of dollars in overdue bills to turn it into an education resource center for kids. However the city said it had worked with Dotson long enough and foreclosed on the building in August. City leaders say they don't know what will become of the building just yet.

My parents, brother, and I all went to school there. It is rich in history and despite it's current condition, it's a beautiful building. I know I am speaking for many when I say PLEASE don't tear it down. I know it'll take ALOT of money to refurbish it but it is well worth it. I think Rev. Dotson has the right idea for it's use. I think an outreach center for the people in the area is a wonderful idea. A positive place for kids, and adults, to go to have fun and for help/support. a former student made a Church School group site on Facebook for all former students to come together and post pictures and reminisce about our school days there and just wonderful memories from those days gone by. PLEASE SAVE OUR SCHOOL BUILDING AND PRESERVE IT FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.
