Poor re-use of urban lands, areas that are booming with new development and river use. These are just a few concerns of the many that can change our environment.
For the past year, Jamie Johannsen has been part of the Green Communities Environmental Vision. This is a study funded by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. 5,000 people in Winnebago County were asked to assess various environmental issues. Feedback came back about land use, recreation and environmental education, cultural and historic resources, natural resources and transportation.
Armed with photographs and a lot of research members of the Green Community are hitting various locations so we can all have a say about our environments future.
If you are concerned about issues identified in the Environmental Vision such as farmland preservation, open space protection and rural lifestyles, then here are some meetings to attend.
