We have some sad news to report tonight regarding a local little girl most of us knew for her battle with brain cancer.

Eleven-year-old Sydney Ives passed away late last night. She had been spending the last year and a half undergoing treatment at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis. Many of us got to know her when the American Hockey League made her honorary Icehog for a Day earlier this year.
Ives' parents say she was mature beyond her years. She was able to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at 18 months and had a beautiful singing voice.

Why is it always the good ones that end up dying? Then you read the other headlines and the scum live forever.
