Fire swept through a Rockford rectory, killing an elderly man and injuring two people.
The blaze started on the first floor of the rectory and traveled up the walls. Three people were home at the time of the fire including the parents of a priest at St. Bernadette’s. Father John Strigini's parents had been living in the rectory. His mother escaped and is being treated at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
A priest affiliated with the church was also rescued, but 85-year-old John Strigini, Sr. didn't make it out alive.
