The police can only do so much. The community has to step up and run the riff raff out. We can point fingers all we want, but the blame can only point back at the folks in the neighborhood who think that it isn't their responsibility.

Why don't the Police Dept patrol more in this area?? It use to be safe. There's drug deals right at the corner.Across the street from the store and I've seen them take place from just driving down the street. I have little ones and live only a block away and it makes me want to move. I sure if the police patroled more it could very well cut down on this kind of activity. Just their presence would defintely make traffic slow down and make the people that have to live there feel a bit safer. Please.... HELP KEEP THIS NEIGHBORHOOD SAFE

I live near the scene of the shooting. it is ridiculous what our neighborhood has come to when you can't go more than a block before seeing where a shooting has happen recently. In the last year there has been 3 shootings within 2 blocks from my home. And, the kicker, I was told there is normally only 1 officer on patrol in our region. why?

Nothing has been said of the victim of this terrible thing. Marty worked for me for the past year. In my business we work together quite a bit so I got to know him quite well. I have never met a person who was so openly dedicated to his family and his children. I think everyday he mentioned something about his three young girls (all toddlers). He was financially struggling but every effort he made was for his family. He was also totally dedicated to his wife and talked about her regularly. His mother has been sick. Though he very much needed the money he still took off work to be with her. Marty was the type of person who would readily help anyone. I remember he was late for work one day because he stopped to help someone whose car broke done along the road. I would be extremely surprised if Marty brought this upon himself in anyway. He was 100% dedicated to his family, and that was it. May God welcome him to heaven and help his wife and baby daughters. I will miss him.

I knew this man personally and this whole thing makes me wonder what Rockford is coming to. Things like this are getting out of control, and the famlies and friends to these victims are left to feel the pain. Bless his family and friends. May one day they find peace.
