Rockford Police on Scene of Shooting Death
Rockford Police are on the scene of a murder, on the city's south west side.

Detectives say a 26 year-old man was shot and killed while he was waiting for someone inside the Neighborhood Market. That's on the corner of Ferguson and Morgan streets.

The suspect then fled. Officers are conducting interviews and processing the scene, trying to piece together what happened.

The police can only do so much. The community has to step up and run the riff raff out. We can point fingers all we want, but the blame can only point back at the folks in the neighborhood who think that it isn't their responsibility.

Why don't the Police Dept patrol more in this area?? It use to be safe.There's drug deals right at the corner.Across the street from the store and I've seen them take place from just driving down the street. I have little ones and live only a block away and it makes me want to move. I sure if the police patroled more it could very well cut down on this kind of activity. Just their presence would defintely make traffic slow down and make the people that have to live there feel a bit safer. Please.... HELP KEEP THIS NEIGHBORHOOD SAFE
