While the governor was touting his tax plan some Rockford companies say the proposal unfairly targets Illinois businesses.
23 News visited Dial Machine in Rockford today. Owners of the manufacturing company oppose the gross receipt tax because
it would mean raising costs and doing that may jeopardize out of state business.
The governor's office says the proposed tax only affects about 15% of Illinois companies but those at Dial Machine say the tax still hurts companies that are providing value to the state.
Dial Machine is among at least 200 businesses and residents against this tax plan in the stateline. They've all either written letters or made phone calls about their concerns to Senator Dave Syverson's office.
