The nationwide nursing shortage is prompting action in Freeport.
Highland Community College is hosting special sessions for those interested in learning about nursing programs. According to the US Department of Labor, the second largest number of new jobs created this year will be in nursing and that should obviously make the field alluring.
The session starts tonight at 7pm. There will be another meeting on April 28th.
Meanwhile, the cost of attending Highland Community College has gone up.
The board approved a $5 hike, the change starts this fall and will boost tuition to $72 per credit hour.
