Gonzales In Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) -- U-S Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is scheduled to make a stop in Chicago today to tout the "Project Safe Childhood" campaign.

The program is part of efforts to protect children from Internet predators.

Gonzales is slated to make an appearance with the head of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and U-S Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald.

That could lead to some awkward questions.

Fitzgerald has said that he's taken some razzing over word that his job performance was ranked as "not distinguished" by a former aide to Gonzales who's at the center of a blowup over the firings of federal prosecutors.

Justice Department officials have since said that was only one man's opinion, and a department spokesman has called Fitzgerald one of the department's most experienced and well-respected.
