The allegations against Jennifer Bland have sent shock waves across the Durand community. But not everyone is completely surprised to hear about them.

23 News went to the Durand High School football game Friday night, and while the focus on was on the game, students we talked to say the Jennifer Bland case is the talk of the town.
"It's going around the entire school, everyone's talking about it," Junior Max Thompson said.
"It comes up quite a bit. Like everbody's asking who the people were, charges against her, how many years she's going to get maybe," Senior Matt Boan said.
Those students say there are so many questions because nobody ever suspected Jennifer Bland would engage in the alleged sexual conduct she's now charged with.
Boan never had her as a teacher but would hang out in her classroom on occasion. He says she was friendly, typical teacher.
But if you ask some of her former students, like Nate Hamilton, you'll hear a different story.
Hamilton says his senior year in Bland's class started out normal. But over time he began noticing strange behavior from Bland. Hamilton said she did things like contact students on My Space, give students massages and wear suggestive clothing while dancing with female students after school for fun.
"We all knew something strange was going on amongst students. She didn't act as a teacher should. She acted more as a friend," Hamilton said.
Hamilton says he never saw anything for certain ever reach a sexual level between Bland and her students. But he just felt something wasn't right the way she interacted with students around school.
Parents we talked to at the football game didn't want to comment on the situation. They said the focus should be on the football game, not the Jennifer Bland case.
We also heard from another Durand resident, who said it's best not to say anything until the truth comes out. Right now, everything against Bland are allegations.

Wow! I wonder if these comments would be the same if it was a male teacher accused.
Durand School and the paretns and the students all plated a part of this. So there is not just one quilty person , if she is quilty. I want to see the proof and we all know kids know how to manipulate texts and pictures. DURAND HIGH SCHOOL - STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO TO FIX YOUR PART IN THIS.
This article sickens me, not about bland but how the media portrays her immediatly. I first understand that the teacher definetly may have oversteped there bounds.. But high school kids feed off drama, here you go the news have stepped down to there level. The High schoolers involved in this scandal are anything but victims here. Acountability still lies with each and every one of us.
