Controversial Movie Opens Wednesday

Many Christians celebrated Ash Wednesday by going to the movies. Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" opened in theatres Wednesday.

The film is sparking passionate debate among Christians, Jews and others. The film tells the biblical story of the last 12 hours leading to the crucifixion of Christ.

The movie has been a sell out in many theatres around the country. In Dallas, Texas many arrived before dawn for a 6:30 a.m. screening. In Rockford, lines have been forming at Colonial Village all day for the eight showings of the movie. The next showing is at 6:30.
