Law enforcement authorities say 35-year-old Leslie Letts of Janesville thought he'd found a 13-year-old girl on the Internet in South Beloit with whom he could have sex. What he found though was the F.B.I.
Letts was arrested Friday night after her family reported his alleged contact on the web with a teen to police. Investigators tell 23 News Letts continued his e-mails, not with the girl, but with police who set up a rendezvous. The defendant is charged by the feds for crossing state lines to engage in sex with a minor. Letts remains in federal custody pending a hearing Wednesday. He faces up to 30 years in prison and a sizable fine.
