Veterans who want to share their war stories can participate in a national project to record military memories.
The National Foundation for Women Legislators has launched a campaign to record accounts of veterans' experiences. Stories are also being sought from civilian volunteers and war industry workers.
State Rep. Mary Flowers is helping run the campaign in Illinois. She says it's vital to record the stories of Illinois veterans before they are lost forever.
The stories will be added to the archives of the Veterans History Project. Researchers will also be able to access the stories at the Library of Congress.
