Christian Life Students in Rockford packaged five thousand meals today. They'll soon be shipping it to malnourished kids in Jamaica. The entire school partnered with 'Kids Around the World' to help. Students raised enough money to purchase the food and pay for packaging and freight. School leaders say they're honored the kids decided to help this way.
"Its important because kids are dying. They say kids die every 12 minutes a day. So its helpful for us to help kids, so that kids can stay alive, longer," said Christian Life 9th grader Jericho Scott.
This year alone, Kids Around the World will send over 300,000 meals around the world, and has committed to sending 1.5 million meals in 2010. Kids Around the World has also built over 129 playgrounds in 26 countries around the world for poverty-stricken children.
