Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is giving another strong defense of the Pentagon office that was set up to look at intelligence on Iraq before the war.

Critics have claimed the Office of Special Plans ignored information suggesting Iraq didn't have weapons of mass destruction. Those critics suggest the office gave Vice President Cheney much of the information that he used to justify the war.

The issue was raised again at a town hall-style meeting Rumsfeld held with defense employees.

Rumsfeld insists the office didn't gather intelligence but merely analyzed it.

Also, Rumsfeld says the office briefed Cheney because he requested it. Rumsfeld says the office wasn't trying to bypass briefings by the CIA.
