Lee Malvo has a new home, but it's not the one where the convicted sniper will serve his life term.

Malvo has been transferred to a Virginia state prison, which is used to keep inmates while officials determine their permanent location.

Malvo was sentenced this week to life in prison for the sniper shootings in 2002 that terrorized the Washington D-C suburbs.

Partner John Muhammad was given the death penalty.

Malvo's lawyers have asked that he be put in a prison with adequate mental-health treatment.
