'Shop 'Til You Drop' Adds Green to Your Wallet
Many of us are shopping discount chains to save money, but a local grocery store is reaching out hoping to do its part to help stimulate the economy and keep tax dollars in the area.

Paul Kehoe wheels down the Poplar Grove Pacemaker aisles at least once a week shopping for deals. Kehoe drops over 200 dollars a trip for his family of six. But the tough times are forcing him to be more thrifty. He says, "We're more careful about what we buy and forgo some of the luxury items and stick to the basics."
One thing Kehoe refuses to cut back on is shopping locally; a habit owners of this Poplar Grove Pacemaker grocery store hope more customers will adopt. Tony DelPra says, "We're trying to encourage people to shop locally and raise the sales tax revenue for the local community. Boone County has been hit very hard by the economic downturn."
Pacemaker is offering an economic stimulus plan to help out. It gives customers like Kehoe cash back on the spot each time the bill is at least 50 dollars. So, the more you shop -- the more you save. DelPra says, "We want to reward them when they come in and say, 'We're a local family business and we appreciate your support.'"
Kehoe bags about 25 dollars cash back every time he shops. He and other customers hope the savings will add up to help them through these tough economic times. It's something Tony DalPra says is a small price price to pay and goes a long way to boost shoppers' spirits and bring more business through the doors.
The incentive is only good at the Belvidere and Poplar Grove Pacemaker locations. You must spend at least 50 dollars to start the savings. Currently, there is no end date for the program.
