Much like the planes taking off at the Rockford Airport business at RFD is also on the rise. Passenger activity at RFD in February was it's highest in 20 months. Nearly 19 thousand flew out of Rockford International Airport this past month that's a 74% increase over February of 2006. In 2002 RFD was ranked as the 630th largest passenger airport service in the United States.
In 2007 Rockford is on pace to crack the top 200 nearly twice as many people have flown through RFD in the first two months of 2007 than in 2006.
Because the Rockford Airport continues to take off there will now be more take offs to Tampa courtesy of Allegiant Air. Allegiant will add a fourth flight to the St. Petersburg International Airport.
The new flight will be Saturday mornings and will be on a seasonal basis from June 16th to August 4th. More than 3 thousand passengers flew the route last month.
