NASA engineers are not only learning about Mars, but their equipment too.
"Opportunity" was supposed to use its rock abrasion tool to grind away at an outcropping called "Flat Rock", but it left no deep impression on it.
Engineers say the tool is working and more research needs to be done on the rock's makeup, so they'll try to identify the rock's chemical elements before trying to grind into it later this week.
