The next time you get a parking ticket you can't blame it on the signs.
Illinois lawmakers turned down a measure that would require municipalities to post parking restriction signs clearly.
State Rep. Sidney Mathias of Buffalo Grove sponsored the bill. He says the legislation was needed because many people complain the signs are confusing and are ticketed or towed because of it.
Mathias wanted signs posted at the ends of each block and the boundaries of any parking zone.
The bill was defeated 9 to 6 in a House committee last week.
